AR is happening. Right now. 👇 Joe Darko talks about how practical use cases are solving real problems across Asia-Pacific and the world. Whether it’s travel, retail, or creator tools, the reality is clear: adoption accelerates when it simplifies everyday tasks. Dive into the full interview:
Snap’s Joe Darko on Why Practical AR Is Changing Behavior in Asia-Pacific As augmented reality moves beyond novelty toward practical utility, the developers and platforms shaping what comes next are increasingly focused on what happens when AR extends beyond the smartphone screen. For Snap Inc., that question sits at the center of how it is building its AR ecosystem across mobile, wearables, and the continuum between them. Darko is Global Head of AR Developer Relations at Snap Inc., working directly with the developer community building experiences across Snapchat, Camera Kit, and Spectacles — the company’s AR glasses platform — using Lens Studio as the common creative environment. "Asia-Pacific is entering a new phase with AR, one that sits between experimentation and everyday usefulness," said Darko. "The region has always moved quickly when a new interface helps people get something done faster or more naturally, and we see that clearly in travel, retail, education, and creator-led use cases."
